Right as Rain Heather Cleveland 9781484045329 Books Reviews

I followed the author on twitter and saw others tweeting about her book Right as Rain. Everyone had nice things to say about it. I looked it up on and downloaded it and I wound up really enjoying this book! A very easy read that I didn't want to put down. The mystery and character development is top notch and there are a few twists that caught me by surprise. Looking forward to seeing this in movie form or maybe a TV series as we follow Jake and Molly on their adventures in a "Stars Hollow" type small town. Small town teacher helps her Sheriff husband solve crimes..... plus all the other trouble that this cast of characters can get themselves into ...should provide lots of warm and humorous moments.
Right as Rain is the story of a young woman facing all the joys and challenges of her new independence. She is filled with enthusiasm, but struggles to maintain it as she is confronted with a sometimes harsh and less than ideal reality.

The characters in this story are blessed with quirks and faults that make them entirely human and easy to relate to. I genuinely cared about what happened to them. Their relationships, the richly detailed environment they inhabit, and a deftly written mystery with a few twists and turns I didn't see coming combine to make this book a real page turner. I'm really looking forward to reading more from this promising new author!
What a fantastic, fun read! I generally don't read many mystery novels, as there usually isn't enough character development for me. However, Right as Rain really brings the characters to life while also maintains a suspenseful mystery. You'll find an instant friend in main character, Molly Carter, who's easy to relate to if you've ever been through the struggles of "finding yourself" in the real world. Molly's developing relationship with hunky cop, Jake Runco, will keep you flipping pages way past your bedtime.
Heather Cleveland really created the perfect blend of humor, romance and suspense. Whether you enjoy mystery, romance, or just a good read, I highly recommend adding this book to your collection. I can't wait to read future novels by this up and coming, talented author.
First of all, start this book on a Friday night so you can stay up all weekend to finish it! You will not want to put it down! I love the character development, the evil villan you just can't wait to see fall, the constant guessing who did what! A wonderful debut for this talented author. I'm looking forward to her next novel, maybe another with Molly and Jake...or completely new characters. Either way, I'm reading it!
I will confess, romance/mystery novels just aren't my thing. From the few that I have skimmed while stuck at my relative's house, or from the rack in the airport, I find the material to be rather two-dimensional, cheap, and (sorry to say) poorly written. As a full-time student working towards med school, time is the most valuable commodity around. So when it comes to "pleasure reading" I don't like to mess around - it better be good.

"Right as Rain" was the first of its kind to appeal to my picky standards. Previously, I never would have taken it off the shelf had it not been authored by my amazing friend, who I now admire even more. I approached the book expecting to be mildly amused by the story and then be able to write a supportive review simply for the sake of friendship. I never expected to find such a satisfying and well-strategized plot line as I did following the saga of Molly, Jake, and the mysterious happenings brewing on the plains of Colorado.

Heather Cleveland shines when it comes to character development, but where she truly radiates is in her sense of timing. She has a natural ability as a story teller to give the right sort of details at the perfect moment without giving too much away. Let me just say, it IS possible to white knuckle a paperback. Cleveland's way of building momentum while maintaining the perfect degree of tension is surprising for such a young writer - she kept a tight reign on the direction of the story, never leaving me wondering about unfinished or sloppy business, but instead provided just the right amount of details for my imagination to really develop as the story progressed. The surprising twists occurred at just the right moments to keep me from my anatomy homework night after night.

To all of you Biology majors, literary snobs, and esoteric elitists, let me just say get over it. This book actually is worth your time. It won't dwell on existentialism or matters of economic reconstruction. And that's ok. It's a love story that (thankfully) remains close enough to the realm of reason for even a science nerd to appreciate. This book won't change your life, but it may add to it.
The best mystery romance book I've read! The book screamed MOVIE right away for me. It was written in such detail that you could picture the characters and scenery vividly in your mind. The story keeps your interest high and wondering what was going to happen next, a "who done it" mystery. The relationship between Molly and Jake leaves you wanting more of their story to be told. A definite page turner that makes you want to read it form start to finish without putting it down. I look forward to reading more from Heather Cleveland. She's sure to be a favorite on your bookshelf, I know she'll be a favorite on mine!Right as Rain
